• Question: if another planet with the same gravity as earth was a few miles away from the earth, would we float?

      I guess if the other planets gravitational pull was slightly stronger than Earths we would, if they were equal nothing would happen.

      I dont think we would float no, the only way for us to float would be if gravity was pulling on us equally from all sides – we would float at the centre of the earth for example. If that planet was a few metres away we would all probably be dead! This is because the gravitational pull of both planets against each other would mean they would crash into each other within seconds and the resulting impact (although from only a few metres) would destroy much of the surface because the mass of the planets is so so great and the gravity so strong they would start to become one planet and pull each other to the centre. But man it would look so cool if there was a planet so close you could jump to it!!
