Oooooh a good one. Technically, some are still alive. Crocodiles are still alive today and are an immensely old group of animals (the first ones about 450 million years ago). In fact, crocodiles and birds are both members of a larger group called “Archosauria”, which also includes the (now extinct) dinosaurs, so there are relatives of dinosaurs still alive today. As for the dinosaurs themselves…who knows. My feeling is that many of them were so massive that eventually there wouldn’t be enough food around to sustain them all.

The dinosaurs lived for so many millions of years and went through a few extinction events before the asteroid, and each time a few survived. After the asteroid some still survived and are still around now, birds and crocodiles for example! But if it wasnt for the asteroid the dinosaurs would probably all have died sooner or later, either from other natural disasters or lack of food, or they would have come across humans and we would have hunted them to extinction.
