I work in environmental science, which is great because it includes loads of different areas from plants and animals to noise! This also means there are lots of different jobs in this sector, so it depends on whether you like to get out there doing fieldwork, become an expert in a specific area, or do what I do and bring all the specialists together to make sure companies don’t harm the environment

I work in academia, which means that i work in a university. But in terms of science my area is biomedical research which basically means we look at the biology of diseases and medicines, but i mainly look at biology of disease. And within biology of disease i look at cells and molecules and we call this molecular and cellular biology. I would recommend that you first find the area of science you are personally interested in, and then look for a job in that area rather than looking for the job. But jobs i would recommend in my area are all research jobs as theyre pretty much the only ones around. You could go and work in a hospital as a scientist who looks at patient samples and says if they have a disease or not but i think that would be boring for me. Instead i love doing research and any job where you do research all day is the best kind of job i could think of. Also, working in a university is really good, you get to meet lots of really interesting people from students all the way up to people who have been given honours by the queen and everyone is willing to discuss science with you as they all love it!
