Question: why is there such thing as stereotypes?

I think because our brains like to see patterns and make connections even when the connections don’t apply to everything. The media doesn’t help either by perpetuating stereotypes with characters on TV and news reports linking irrelevant bits of information together – it strengthens the association which is very rarely true.
