• Question: Can religion and science mix?

      I think so yes, in fact there are a lot of scientists who also follow a religion. However, I would say in my field which is evolutionary biology it more than likely wouldn’t work, I think believing in a creator whilst also believing that all life descended by gradual evolution over millions of years aren’t really compatible, but I could be wrong on that.

      You can be a scientist and religious, there are a lot of those people around. But you can’t mix religion and science in the sense that you use religion to answer scientific questions. I think if you started using religion to explain scientific questions you would effectively be saying we don’t need science and that would then be the question why have science at all if you can just turn around and say ‘god did it’. That’s a boring answer!
